Despite its low empty weight of only 770 g, the LWAC M2A1 is extremely robust and classified as "CLASS J" according to DEF-STAN 81-41. It is absolutely waterproof and airtight, offers improved thermal insulation, and withstands extreme weather conditions from -54 °C to +71 °C for years. The intelligent design allows for improved stackability (cross-stacking at a 90° angle as well as vertically) and is fully compatible with existing steel boxes.

Tactical users also benefit from low noise during handling, complete elimination of spark hazards, and preparation for integrated RFID tags for modern tracking. The ammunition box is made of fully recyclable materials and is UN-ADR certified for worldwide transport of dangerous goods.
